The deepest and most modern port in India, Gangavaram Port has achieved several records in cargo commodities. The Port has a state-of-the-art infrastructure facility to manage various imports and export cargos which has multi-purpose cargo berths to receive Cap Size, Panamax Size, and Supramax vessels.
The port achieved a record in sugar loading, steel loading, steam coal discharging, PCI coal discharging, Average Discharge Rate of Bauxite, and average load rate of Aluminium Ingots. Gangavaram Port Ltd (GPL) is situated on the east coast of India at a strategic location near Vishakhapatnam City in Andhra Pradesh. It is the deepest all-weather port in India with round-the-clock operations. The port has a vast storage facility including covered warehouses to manage various cargos and state-of-the-art material handling systems.
GPL is consistently performing well and creating newer records for handling the various cargos.
The Port achieved its maiden record in Sugar cargo by loading 16,020 MTs from the vessel MV Jenny M which berthed at the port on Feb. 21. Gangavaram Port Ltd (GPL) performed extremely well by loading 10,854 MT of Steel Blooms A/c RINL by using the vessel cranes on a 24-hour basis. This has created a National Record by any port in India. The port has achieved the highest loading of Iron Ore Fines 53,261 MT in 24 hrs to MV Crimson Knight A/c KIOCL in February 2022.
Gangavaram Port discharged 70,000 MT of Steam coal within 24 hrs from the vessel MV. Manasota A/c. AEL in January 2022. The port discharged 43,700 MT of PCI coal within 24 hrs by using Harbour Mobile Cranes from the vessel MV. Atmosphere A/c. Discharging the highest rate of Bauxite, the port achieved a record of highest average discharge rate of 74,510 MTPD of Bauxite from the vessel MV. Gangavaram Port Ltd has achieved the highest average load rate of 3,559 MTPD of Aluminum Ingots for the vessel MV Ariston Bulker A/c Vedanta by using the Vessel Cranes in January 2022.
Gangavaram Port, with its deep draft berths and efficient operations, has become the gateway port for a hinterland, spread over Eastern, Western, Southern, and Central India. The port has the ability to handle larger vessels efficiently& has resulted in substantial savings to the Port users and the trade.
