SAFEEN Feeders Launches New UAE- China Service

The SAFEEN Feeders division of AD Ports Group, with a capacity of 3,400 TEUS, has begun operating a new route between the UAE and China.

The regular service will provide a significant new trade channel by directly connecting the ports of Shanghai, Qingdao, and Ningbo in China with Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi.

As the business broadens its global reach, it will be SAFEEN Feeders’ first service to call in China. SAFEEN Feeders recently made the announcement that it would support the new India East Coast Express 2 service, which connects Chennai, India, Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Singapore.

China is one of the UAE’s biggest trading partners, with bilateral trade between the two countries expected to reach $75.6 billion in 2021.

Furthermore, there are presently 6,000 Chinese companies operating in the UAE, and a sizeable Chinese community works mostly in the infrastructure and energy industries.

Captain Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, Acting CEO – Maritime Cluster and SAFEEN Group, AD Ports Group, said:

SAFEEN Feeders has rapidly expanded since its start in 2020, increasing total container capacity to more than 600,000 TEUS/year. Its container services now include additional routes and support mainliner shipping firms and customers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Sudan, Pakistan, and India.

With the addition of the additional UAE/China, Singapore/Chennai/Colombo, and UAE/Sudan services to the earlier-introduced UAE Coastal/Oman and UAE/India/Gulf services, SAFEEN Feeders now offers service along five routes in total.
