Ports to adopt made in India VTS

Ministry of ports, shipping and waterways announced that ports will soon be adopting made in India VTS which will save Rs. 1.2 crore annually. It will eliminate costly foreign made software.

Recently, Sarbananda Sonwal inaugurated VTS at VO Chidambaram Port Authority, Tuticorin.

This software supports the goal of Smart port initiative of MIV2030.

The Government stated that the key advantages of VTS are as follows:

  • Monitors maritime traffic
  • Efficient in Navigation
  • Secrecy in terms of national security
  • Reduces foreign exchange expenditure
  • Protection of the Marine environment

Launch of smart indigenous iVTS will be under Atmanirbhar Bharat.
