Indian Navy and IIM Nagpur joint collaborative efforts in niche management domains

On October 13, 2022, the Indian Navy and IIM Nagpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore opportunities to train, up-skill, and reskill members of the armed forces, specifically Indian Navy personnel, in emerging fields such as business management, financial management, block chain, project management, strategic management, digital marketing, supply chain, logistic management, and research.

This will help serving employees advance their careers and upskill retired officers to satisfy business needs. Soon, a team from Naval Headquarters will travel to IIM Nagpur to create executive education programmes specifically for the Navy. The Indian Navy and IIM Nagpur staff members’ reciprocal visits to their respective organisations will be made easier thanks to this MoU.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Bhimaraya Ambanna Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur, announced that IIM Nagpur and the Indian Navy will work together to develop a variety of on-campus and off-campus programmes and workshops in areas of shared interest. These programmes and workshops will involve faculty, students enrolled in the full-time IIM programme, and research scholars to find creative solutions to help the Indian Navy realise its goal of becoming Aatma Nirbhar.

Speaking at the event, Vice Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the Indian Navy’s Chief of Personnel, said that the Indian Navy and Armed Forces are eager to see the outcomes of their joint collaborative efforts in the near future and the vistas of opportunities this MoU will open for members of the Armed Forces in general and Indian Navy personnel in particular. With the signing of this MOU, he continued, the Indian Navy’s personnel would continue to stay in touch with academic institutions at the top to be abreast of current events in civil society.
