New Fish Market in Chennai Nears Completion: A Boost for Local Trade and Traffic Relief

The construction of a modern fish market in Pattinapakkam, Chennai, is nearing completion, marking a significant step towards resolving traffic disruptions caused by existing fish shops along the loop road. With an investment of ₹10 crore, the project, driven by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru, aims to revamp the local fishing industry. The facility will feature 366 shops, a perimeter wall for enhanced security, dedicated fish cleaning areas, and a 40-kiloliter sewage treatment plant, reflecting the government’s commitment to both public amenities and environmental sustainability. The market is expected to open on the 12th of August.
