Longship Orders Eco-Friendly Fleet to Lead Europe’s Green Shipping Revolution

Waterhuizen, Netherlands
Netherlands-based shortsea operator Longship has taken a significant step towards sustainability by ordering four state-of-the-art, eco-friendly vessels from Dutch shipbuilder SaS, with an option for four additional ships. The new Pmax Eco Trader series, designed for high fuel efficiency and green technologies, marks a key milestone in Longship’s plan to expand its market share in European inland shipping.

Longship’s commitment to environmental responsibility is reflected in its aggressive fleet expansion program, which aligns with the European Union’s goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector by 2050. The 6,000 dwt vessels, developed by Groot Ship Design, will be built at SaS’s shipyard in Waterhuizen, with deliveries expected to begin in 2026. This initiative follows Longship’s successful debut in the Nordic Bond market, where it raised €40 million to support its fleet modernization efforts.
