INS Arighaat Joins Indian Navy, Enhancing Strategic Balance in Indo-Pacific

India,
India’s second Arihant-class nuclear ballistic missile submarine, “INS Arighaat”, was officially commissioned into the Indian Navy on August 29, marking a significant advancement in India’s nuclear deterrence capabilities. The new submarine is designed to bolster India’s nuclear second-strike capability and enhance its strategic balance in the Indo-Pacific region.

INS Arighaat’s addition to the Navy reinforces India’s nuclear triad, with its stealth capabilities and advanced missile systems ensuring greater security and deterrence against adversaries. As India continues to expand its SSBN fleet, including plans for a third submarine by 2025, this development underscores India’s growing role in regional security, particularly in countering nuclear competition with China and Pakistan.
